Hi! I’m Brittany, a graduate student living in Bozeman, Montana. I love cooking creative, simple meals that are DELICIOUS and easy on the wallet. I cook to comfort, to nourish, to experiment, and to have fun! Homebrewing is one of my new hobbies and I will try to share successful beer recipes (and food recipes that involve beer) on this site as well.

A Little More About Brittany:
Hometown: Red Hook, NY
Favorite kitchen tool: The microplane! I have poor knife skills and love that this tool takes care of grinding garlic and ginger for me. I also love using it for grating cheese, zesting, etc. I think that once I decide to invest in a KitchenAid stand mixer I may have a new favorite tool. For now, I am kneading, beating, whisking, and folding by hand.
One food I don’t like: I love all fruits and vegetables, and almost everything else. I still get a little weirded out by some of the stranger meat products including: cow tongue, any sort of brains, and any sort of livers.
How I got involved in cooking: I grew up on a family operated vegetable farm in upstate NY. The cycle of planting (and weeding and weeding and weeding), growing, harvesting, and eating has always been of interest to me. My parents and grandmothers are fantastic cooks and always made time to involve us kids in the kitchen.
Hiii! My name is Sarah and I’m a food scientist living and working in Ithaca, New York. I love baking all sorts of things, and I’m always up for trying new recipes. I bake for stress relief, for my friends and family and for tasty treats!

Favorite kitchen tool: My KitchenAid Stand Mixer in majestic yellow. (Brittany, you should REALLY invest in one.) It’s a beautiful time saver, and although I don’t have any attachments yet, they’re on my wish list. I love the sound this mixer makes when it’s beating the crap out of butter and sugar. Egg whites have never turned out more pristine and hard peaked than with this mixer.
Favorite ingredient: Unsalted butter.

One food I don’t like: Bananas. I hate fresh bananas. They freak me out. I love them once they’re in banana bread or banana muffins, otherwise, keep them away. Other than that, I will eat anything within reason.
How I got involved in baking: My parents were never very upbeat about spending time in the kitchen. However, my grandma was, and is, an avid baker, so I think I picked it up from her. When I was younger, I went to a summer camp called “Just Desserts” where I spent 6 days learning all sorts of baking skills. From there, I haven’t stopped.
